Let me take you to his journey of establishing this ‘perfect holiday option’ . “I could sense that the demand for a purposeful gateway is multifold. Firstly, the elders who visit here as pilgrims,secondly the youngsters who are looking for a place for adventure and fun. And the third category of tourists who want to get away from the frenetic lifestyle of cities and visit this place to rejuvenate.”
“I was born and brought up in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. My memories are filled with the vivid landscape of Himalayan Ranges . The settlements all along these ranges in India offer refreshing weather and serene views. Since ages they have behaved like magnets for those seeking spiritual peace. A lot of painters, musicians , writers and poets from around the world visit here. They appreciate the fact that this place brings out the best of their creativity. Mountains have an aura, a character and a spirit which has and will always fascinate mankind in so many aspects.” Feels Maj Rakesh.
Adding to it , he recalls , “As an Army veteran, serving in various locations especially in the hills of Leh, Ladakh and Kargil, outdoors have been a big passion for me. I was always exploring for an opportunity to set up a venture which can enable tourists to explore, experience the adventure, and connect with the mountains. The location, natural beauty, expansive valley view and a river front at Mohanchatti (Uttarakhand) inspired me to set up Tiger Estate here.”
What is unique about The Tiger Estate !
“One can take the picturesque view of the entire valley from the room’s window or balcony and more wholesomely from the lawn itself. We have a sprawling lawn of 10,000 sq ft that is meant to curate different activities and render leisurely hours under the mild sun or around the bon-fire at night.
The location of Tiger Estate, is as such that it caters for the needs of all variety of guests, for leisure it is suitably located in a silent valley surrounded by hills. For wanderers and adventure lovers, the highest bungee jumping point of India (Jumping Heights) is at 500 meters and treks can be organized for quarter, half and full day. There are also various rafting points along the Ganges for those who desire to indulge in white water rafting. The hill tops are suitable for night out camps too.
River Hule which is 200 meters from Tiger Estate offers a great water splash for young adults and senior citizens. For the spiritually motivated ones, many pilgrimages/temples, ghats of Rishikesh are on average 30 mins drive.
Sustainable Efforts for Social Upliftment
There are two types of accommodation in Tiger Estate, one is bamboo hut rooms and the other is concrete rooms catering to the different choices or tastes of guests.
Starting from the construction phase – the entire men and machinery deployed were local. Local youth were trained and groomed and finally employed in Tiger Estate at various capacities. In future, we are working out our strategies for social integration of urban youth with rural youth via village tours to generate awareness. We also look to form an association with various local set-ups with the motto of doing larger good for the society. To organize medical camps and activities, especially for women and children.
Following green policy: 80% of the project is made up of green bamboo and is very eco-friendly. The project harvest rain-water in a manner that the water table is maintained and is not allowed to deplete. There is a plantation drive carried on in and around the project. We use local fresh produce to curate healthy and tasty food.“
